Setting

The novel is set in London in the 60s and at present time. We follow two couples; Lexie and Innes who work together at a magazine in the 60s, and Ted and Elina who have just got a baby at present time. Lexie and Innes work and live their life in Soho in London in the 1960s, and they work long hours and are out in Soho bars in the evenings. Elina is mainly at home with her newborn baby.

"The hand that first held mine" by Maggie O'Farrell

I'm reading a novel by Maggie O'farrell called "The hand that held mine". In the novel we are first introduced to Alxandra who is a 21-year-old woman who is living with her mother and siblings. She dreams of moving to London on her own, and in the first chapter she accidentally meets Innes, a 36- year-old journalist who is living in London. He suggests that they meet in London if she moves there.
